What is VMmark?

VMmark was developed by VMware as a benchmarking tool to give us accurate measurement of application performance in a virtualized environment. It’s the industry’s first virtualization benchmarking tool for x86-based systems. The system uses a unique tile-base implementation.

VMware have published the results submitted by different hardware suppliers (Dell, IBM, HP, and Unisys). These results can act as a guide when you are deciding which hardware to purchase for your virtual environment. The software is available as a free download from the VMware site. To learn more about VMmark and virtualization benchmarking visit the SPEC (Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation) website.
