Virtualization management and security specialist Reflex Systems announced today that they have parted with Dell Server and Desktop supplier to sell and market their Virtualization management products. Dell is now an authorised world wide seller of Reflex Virtualization Management Center (VMC).

Last month Citrix step up its effort to make a bigger impression in the virtualization and cloud computing market place. Citrix announced that their new version of Citrix XenServer is available as a free download (no 30/60 trial period). This is unprecedented for a software supplier to release a proprietary enterprise system with full features* free and you can use it in your production environment with unlimited installation. Businesses with Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) can now deploy Windows 7 Beta in their virtualization environment for testing. Microsoft has announced the release of an updated version of App-V 4.5 CU1 specific for Windows 7. Therefore, enterprise customers and Independent software providers with Microsoft Virtualization can implement windows 7 beta in their environment.

Wyse announced yesterday at this years VMworld conference in Cannes, France that their entire line of thin client systems are VMware View ready. Wyse said they have passed the rigorous testing and quality assurance required to be compliant with VMware View.

Being VMware View ready Wyse said their customers will be better positioned to take advantage of the changing virtualization infrastructure including cloud computing.

OpsCheck will join their other security tool ConfigCheck. OpsCheck will analyze your ESX3.0 and ESXi hypervisors, and provide troubleshooting guidance for VMware VMotion.

The idea of cloud computing mean your data and the processes that manipulate and manage the data can be anywhere on earth or in space. Not a bad idea when you can build your datacenter in cost effective area to benefit from a low cost in labour and a suitable environment that will reduce the resources needed to operate. This concept looks good and sounds good, but in practise I think the majority of us are far from this ideal. I think the current infrastructure is okay for many but not for the majority should they decide to buy into the cloud computing model.

Memory Virtualization Platform (MVP) and RNA messenger the two products from the RNA stables were released on the 4th. RNA said RNAmessenger and MVP are the first high-performance network virtual memory system. The system works by aggregating unused memory across the different systems into one pool that becomes a shared resource across the network.

Dimension data announced today the it has acquired Teksys a UK base infrastructure consultancy, specializing in Microsoft technology. The amount paid was not disclosed by Dimension Data. Dimension Data a IT solution specialist is rank 4th in The storage 100 and The Security 100 VarBusiness Magazine.
