Citrix Systems has announced it has closed the acquisition of RingCube, a leader in user personalization technology for virtual desktops. The innovative technology from RingCube accelerates virtual desktop adoption by eliminating the tradeoff between user personalization and centralized IT management. When combined with a desktop virtualization product like Citrix XenDesktop, RingCube makes it easier for IT to give each user a personalized virtual desktop, dramatically reduces the cost of storage, and simplifies the move from physical to virtual desktops.

Avnet Technology Solutions has announced that it has expanded its distribution agreement with Microsoft Corporation to focus on the virtualization market. Under this agreement, Avnet will help Microsoft develop and build its U.S. channel for virtualization solutions targeted to small- and medium-sized business (SMB) customers, including Microsoft's System Center products.

Belkin has announced a strategic partnership with ClearCube, a provider of virtual desktop products for cloud computing, rack-mounted secure workstations, and blade PCs. The partnership will yield the ClientCube, an industry-first solution designed to allow government employees to securely switch between different virtualized networks that are on separate zero clients.

IGEL Technology, the world’s leading provider of Linux-based thin clients, has expanded its existing collaboration with Red Hat. Effective immediately, all Linux-based thin client solutions available from IGEL can also be used as customized end-user devices for accessing virtual desktops provisioned by means of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization for Desktops.
