VMmarkVMmark was developed by VMware as a benchmarking tool to give us accurate measurement of application performance in a virtualized environment.  It’s the industry’s first virtualization benchmarking tool for x86-based systems. The system uses a unique tile-base implementation.

VMware have published the results submitted by different hardware suppliers (Dell, IBM, HP, and Unisys).  These results can act as a guide when you are deciding which hardware to purchase for your virtual environment.  The software is available as a free download from the VMware site. To learn more about VMmark and virtualization benchmarking visit the SPEC (Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation) website.

I got this information from one of the news feeds that come into this site. Kir Kolyshkin has posted in his journal how he was able to setup OpenVZ on a Gumtrix Overo. The Overo is a computer as small as a Wrigley's gum with a CPU board the size of a gum stick, featuring TI OMAP3 CPU, 128 megs of RAM and a microSD slot. It also has 802.11g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but those happens to be completely dead as this the first beta release of hardware.
