What to do when your virtualization ship has left the dock?
The virtualization ship has left the dock long time ago and many companies find that they are still standing on the shore. This is my view of many IT companies who haven’t got the resource or time to catch up. They are therefore left with no choice but to acquire those that have gone ahead.
Within the last two years I have seen more acquisition of virtualization companies than in any other area in the technology sector. Last week we heard about the acquisition of VirtualIron by Oracle who have just purchase Sun Microsystems who this year also acquired cloud rival Q-layer.
I think the bigger Technology companies need to stop playing this catch-up game. They give the impression that they are setting down and waiting for another small company to innovate and market the technology before they start to react. Which is what has happen with virtualization – check the past acquisition if you don’t believe me.
